"The Raven Who Brought Us Fire"
Robert Lund’s work reflects a connection with his Métis heritage and a more contemporary perspective of the mythology and stories of his youth.
The Raven Who Brought Us Fire was created in stainless-steel, copper, and brass embellished with citrine, a precious stone. This sculpture represents the gift that nature provides to the human realm.
Arius is proud to have partnered with Robert Lund to provide this artist-first; an original mixed-metal sculpture with an accompanying NFT, a digitally created Elegraph-D artwork using scan data from the physical sculpture.

Introduced by a mutual connection in Vancouver, BC, Arius was equally fascinated with Roberts’s artwork as Robert was by Arius’ unique technology and the potential it might bring to his traditional body of work.
“The Raven Who Brought Us Fire is one of first metal artworks Arius has ever digitized. With optics-based technology at the core of our ultra-high-resolution scanning platform, metal material provides an added challenge due to its reflective nature. From our initial conversation, Robert was excited to embark on this journey with us, allowing us to research and develop processes for digitizing metallic surfaces, before digitally iterating and creating new works. Robert’s enthusiasm towards the unknown and embracing new opportunities is contagious and it’s something we were drawn to, much like his collectors are.” - Roland Dela Cuesta, Head of Art Production at Arius.
Working closely with Arius’ team of Art Production Specialists in the alta™ Creative Studio, Robert collaborated with the team to blend analog and digital creation with the same fluid approach that brings his story-focused sculptures from idea to reality.
“The NFT world is a bit of a mystery to me, but I’m at a point in life where some new adventures and seeing what happens when taking part is exciting. Knowing that my piece would be the first metal scan and being part of the process to figure it out, it’s fun to be here at the beginning. I feel on the ground floor when thinking about my medium, then to see the things the Arius team are able to do with technology to create an NFT is remarkable.” - Robert Lund, Artist
Offered alongside the original sculpture of The Raven Who Brought Us Fire, the Robert Lund x Arius NFT is exclusively available via Arius Technology. We’re providing the world’s first opportunity to collect both a physical and digital artwork of one of BC’s most-admired Indigenous artists.
The Raven Who Brought Us Fire was created in stainless-steel, copper and brass embellished with citrine, a precious stone which is associated with positivity and optimism. It is often used to assist in manifesting financial abundance and opportunities.
Ravens depict wisdom and intelligence. It is said the raven stole a star, or an ember from a fire, and brought it to the humans so that they have heat and light. In the process of bringing the ember into the human realm, the Raven’s feathers turned from white to black.
This sculpture represents the gift that nature provides to the human realm. It is a conceptual design that embodies a free-standing circular form that easily occupies the same space as the viewer.
Roberts’ work will be housed in a handcrafted maple box, and will accompany his debut NFT artwork. He will also be etching the NFT token onto the brass backing black, next to his signature. Together, Robert’s sculpture and NFT provide a fully ‘phygital’ art experience.
